BC Housing Policy Modelling
Modelling the impact of BC’s SSMUH and TOA housing legislation on housing supply.
In 2023 BC set out to intervene in municipal land use regulations to enable multiplex infill housing and denser development around transit stations. To support this the province contracted MountainMath to model the potential housing supply impact of these measures under a range of uptake and implementation scenarios. The analysis combines parcel-level zoning data, sale price modelling of hypothetical new developments, construction cost estimates, and econometric modelling to bound the expected supply response over a ten-year horizon and impact along various socioeconomic dimensions.
