cmhc is an R package for accessing housing market data from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. It provides a programmatic interface to the CMHC’s web-based Housing Market Information Portal, allowing users to pull data on housing starts, completions, under construction, vacancy rates, and rental market surveys across Canadian metro areas directly into R for analysis.
CMHC data is widely used in housing research but has historically been awkward to access programmatically. This package removes that friction and enables reproducible workflows for housing market analysis.
