Econometric modelling of Nova Scotia’s provincial housing needs.
A 2023 provincial housing needs assessment for Nova Scotia, combining demographic projections with housing stock analysis to estimate current and future housing shortfall. This is validated against an econometric model of housing price response to changes in housing supply and demographics.
The findings informed the Province’s housing supply targets and provided the analytical foundation for subsequent housing policy development, including the NS Builds initiative.
